AN ISLAMIC CHINESE BRONZE INCENSE BURNER

DESCRIPTION:
A rectangular shape of a Chinese Islamic incense burner is heavily cast and engraved with Quranic inscriptions on the front and back, a straight sides flaring slightly to the rim, supported on four F-shaped bracket feet and flanked by a pair of ruyi-shaped handles. “RUYI” Known in Chinese “As You Wish” The base is cast with four characters, within a square.
Conditions report:
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture. There are small nicks to the extremities of the vessel, particularly to the tips of the feet, and general wear to the colour insulation layer of the surface as can be expected. There is slight oxidation to the bronze especially around the characters on the base.
