DESCRIPTION:
Of rectangular shape, this magnificent Safavid wood printing block with the deeply carved relief with “Quranic Calligraphic” is said to have been particularly operated and used, by the royal subjects and belong to the silk and cotton textiles pavilion  courtyard, the mesmerizing patterns often carry traditional cultural meaning, as well as legacies of the tribes they originally come from.

The knowledge of carving these intricate wooden textile printing blocks has been handed down through generations throughout the Safavid period and  
This fascinating technique for printing cotton is very skilled. Watching the printers at their craft is mesmerizing. The speed at that they work along the long tables, often in conjunction with others who contribute to the pattern is impressive. The work is laborious, but the results are wonderful.   
 
Condition reports;
As excepted and seen to the left side of the block its broken on surface of the calligraphic aged long-lasting handle as viewed.
